Lenôtre Restaurant Review:

Founded in 1957 by the late Gaston Lenôtre, this remains one of the most celebrated pâtisseries in Paris. Although sometimes considered old-school these days, Lenôtre actually pioneered more avant-garde pastry techniques in the 1970s and some of the world’s most famous innovators, like Pierre Hermé and Carl Marletti, apprenticed with the Lenôtre organization. You’ll find an incredible array of éclairs, an exceptional millefeuille (napoleon) and a superb example of the opéra cake, which some credit Lenôtre with originating in the 1960s. This 16th arrondissement location is the original, but the Lenôtre name (now part of a hospitality industry conglomerate) has been parlayed into a worldwide franchise from Las Vegas to Beijing.
