Liberte Restaurant Review

: Liberté, the swank restaurant and lounge at the Sofitel Philadelphia, is as addicting as a flute of ice cold Champagne. Australian-born chef Kevin Levett came from hotels including the famed Claridge’s and InterContinental in London. He lends his experience and style to this restaurant, and it’s a go-to place when you're peckish at off hours---the appealing bites are served all day. Cozy up in a crushed ecru velvet booth facing windows hung with French silk draperies sparkling with a thousand little mirrors. Or grab a table by the bar, where well-crafted cocktails are the order of the day. Start with oysters on the half shell with ginger and pastis granité or the house-cured trout over red lentils. We also recommend the salads and the potato gnocchi, dressed up for winter with chestnuts and Brussels sprouts. Pernod-scented bouillabaisse evokes the sun-kissed coast of France. Classic French desserts are decadent with a modern twist. Try the chocolate dome, a sassy chocolate ganache cake with bits of salted caramel and praline. The light in the room is lovely, making this a prime spot just about any time of day.
