Liberties Restaurant Review: This authentically restored tavern in Northern Liberties is just another reason to visit this 'hood, which continues to explode with bars and restaurants. A statue of an Egyptian goddess beckons passersby at the circa-1700s covered marketplace once surrounded by breweries and taverns. She’s the welcoming committee to one of Philadelphia's most beautiful Victorian walnut bars with its original copper and tin ceiling. The food is contemporary comfort fare with all the usual suspects offered. Try the signature homemade fries seasoned with Old Bay and served with cheese, along with the day-after wrap that reinvents the Thanksgiving feast. There are also substantial burgers, tasty gourmet pizzas and hearty entrée salads. A nice craft beer menu complements the food. |
