THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Liberty Bakery & Wine Bar Restaurant Review:
Tucked away behind the Liberty Café is a tiny place that lives a double life. Open early in the morning, the vintage building with wood walls and an antique hutch serves as the neighborhood bakery. Brioche (plain or cinnamon-laced), croissants, morning buns and muffins fill the room with a wonderful scent. The gnarled, skinny branches of bread are usually gone before noon. Espresso drinks are made to order. Some sit and linger in the quiet room with a window table overlooking a neighbor's garden or sometimes in the patio between the bakery and the restaurant. Three nights a week the room is transformed into a wine bar with light appetizers. While it could be conceived as a destination, most patrons are patiently and happily awaiting a table at the no-reservation-policy Liberty Café.
