| Fans of Mexican soup, rejoice! There’s a different home-cooked version every day of the workweek at Lily’s, a light, airy spot offering cooked-to-order fare. On weekends, it can be difficult to choose between the pozole and the tripe-and-pork-packed menudo. Both soups are flavorful, with lots of add-ins like onion, oregano and cabbage. The usual taco-type items dominate the menu, joined by treats like a torta (a torpedo-shaped roll filled with your choice of meat, plus mayonnaise, avocado, onion, lettuce and tomato). For dessert, choose from one of seven flan varieties. Of course, there are Mexican beers and margaritas to wash it all down. The restaurant is very family-friendly, with food arriving via deft maneuvers around a dancing toddler or two. There may be a wait when the dining room’s full, but it’s always worth it. |
