Liuzza's by the Track Restaurant Review:

From the outside, this place looks like any other two-story house in its mid-city neighborhood, with a window unit air conditioner hanging precariously over the front door. Inside, small wooden tables and chairs are surrounded by an eclectic collection of old Jazz Fest posters and whirring ceiling fans. Liuzza's by the Track is aptly named as it’s adjacent to Fair Ground Race Course. The moniker also differentiates it from the unrelated Liuzza's Restaurant & Bar located less than a mile away. Familiar fare from the casual Creole canon is done better than the norm and includes a few distinctive house specialties. Most prominent is the po' boy stuffed with New Orleans barbecue-style shrimp luxuriating in a butter and pepper sauce. Oyster po' boys get the addition of enough garlic to blow a safe; the seafood gumbo, for which shrimp and oysters are cooked to order, should be a requirement for every diner; and bread pudding satisfies even the strongest sweets craving. Although you can get a decent glass of wine at Liuzza’s, this is more of a beer and bourbon shooter type of spot. Note that Liuzza's by the Track closes at 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
