The Local Eatery & Pub Restaurant Review: This family-friendly neighborhood restaurant has a frequently changing farm-to-table menu that draws foodies from across central Indiana. The chef/owner has a knack for transforming locally sourced ingredients into full-flavored dishes, like grilled lamb ribs with apple butter barbecue sauce and braised red cabbage, or a grilled, bone-in pork chop with sweet potato-pork terrine hash. For starters, there are frogs’ legs, fried and tossed in a wing sauce; vegetarian black bean chili; and potted smoked trout and salmon paired with grilled bread and house-made pickles. Lamb, turkey, elk, veggie and beef burgers are available, too, but how does one decide? We like them all, especially when sharing an order of mac ‘n’ cheese with bacon lardons on the side. Daily brews are served in canning jars, which fits the warm, homey atmosphere. It's almost mandatory to end the meal with a seasonal crisp, served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
