| When Larimer Associates, the power-suits behind numerous successful restaurants in trendy Larimer Square, partnered with chef Sean Kelly to open a deliberately unpretentious watering hole and steakhouse, the Highland neighborhood took notice. Kelly turns out down-to-earth dishes, a mash-up of steaks crowned with blue cheese butter, garlic-herb butter, béarnaise or bordelaise; house-made potato chips with a blue cheese fondue; house-ground burgers stacked with a yolk-y fried egg, chili and cheddar; poached mussels with judiciously salted frites; and a swell of sandwiches, including an open-face steak or the rock shrimp po' boy. The bar, a mix of counter space, community table and booths, swells with hipsters from the 'hood while the softly-lit dining room buzzes with families and couples. No matter where you sit, don't even think about walking toward the exit until you've gone grabby for the double chocolate pudding with whipped cream. |
