The atmosphere is hip, but it's the food that's really the draw at this Logan Square spot.

Longman & Eagle Restaurant Review

: Sure, this Logan Square restaurant-lounge attracts more than its fair share of hipsters --- if you have a plaid shirt, skinny black jeans and nerdy glasses, wear them. But this isn’t just a see-and-be-seen spot. A lot of thought went into the shabby-chic décor --- be sure to head to the back room to check out the sculpture installation --- the handcrafted cocktails, biodynamic wines, whiskey list and the menu. And that same attention to detail is what makes dishes so good. Founding chef/partner Jared Wentworth isn’t afraid to get playful: wild boar Sloppy Joes, anyone? At the same time, he has the culinary chops to pull off dishes like pan-seared albacore tuna with hominy ravioli, fermented cabbage, radish, pickled serrano chiles, avocado purée and pozole broth. Even the burger is a standout, thanks to beefy Slagel Family Farm meat, sharp, aged cheddar and bacon alongside super-crisp beef fat fries. Desserts may include a bittersweet chocolate soda float or warm black sesame donuts. Brunch, served daily, boasts house-made biscuits and gravy, fried chicken and waffles, and a pork belly Benedict. There's even a "PBR Breakfast" that includes a can of Pabst Blue Ribbon with your order of eggs, sausage and potatoes. Our only complaint? Longman & Eagle doesn't take reservations, and its "it" status won't let up anytime soon.
