Sure, this Logan Square restaurant-lounge attracts more than its fair share of hipsters --- if you have a plaid shirt, skinny black jeans and nerdy glasses, wear them --- but this isn’t just a see-and-be-seen spot. A lot of thought went into the shabby-chic décor --- be sure to head to the back room to check out the sculpture installation --- the handcrafted cocktails, biodynamic wines, whiskey list and the menu. And that same attention to detail is what makes dishes --- such as pan-roasted skate wing and Miller Farms roasted chicken with bacon and mushroom and potato terrine --- so good. Chef Jared Wentworth isn’t afraid to get playful: wild boar Sloppy Joes, anyone? At the same time, he has the culinary chops to pull off dishes like seared scallops with beech mushrooms, pickled ramp bulbs and black truffle cream of wheat. Desserts may include a steamed bourbon cake or warm Gruyère donuts. Our only complaint? They don’t take reservations, and its “it” status won't let up anytime soon.
