L'Orchidee de Chine Restaurant Review: The China Orchid, or L'Orchidée de Chine, is one of the rare Chinese fine dining restaurants in Montreal, serving authentic Szechuan-Pekingese cuisine. While its décor could use a little brush up, this eatery, with its large window overlooking bustling Rue Peel in downtown Montreal, is never lacking customers. The menu is like a garden filled with spicy, bold and flavorful dishes. Plan on enjoying Peking duck; it comes to the table with crispy duck skin and soft pastry wrapping. Add a touch of sweet sauce and a julienne of spring onions and vegetables before enfolding it in its pancake---the only way to savor this dish. Other recommended options include orange beef and pepper chicken with deep-fried spinach. Like most Chinese restaurants, there is a variety of fresh seafood, poultry and meat. Be prepared to pay a bit more for these dishes as this establishment offers uncommon amenities for a Chinese restaurant. |
