Los Cuates Restaurant Review: Tucked away on Wisconsin Avenue, Los Cuates presents its Mexican food on a relatively extensive menu, starting with quesadillas and tamalito dulce and winding up with enchiladas, chimichangas and bountiful Mexican platters brimming with either chiles rellenos or chicken tamales. It’s a setting that is small, intimate, and suggestive of the great Southwest. The flavors are fairly true to their origins, but note that the chef slips in some Yankee treats: a margarita salad with mangos and pork ribs fajitas. Dessert fortunately includes cajeta (caramel sauce, which is poured over vanilla ice cream) and a tres leches cake.
