| Located in a nondescript strip mall just around the corner from Hillcrest’s hub, this Thai charmer has a pleasing décor with a central flowing fountain and heavy teak tables and chairs. This is a locals’ spot, with only a few uptown tourists wandering in; just the sort of place for a cozy chat with a friend or a romantic rendezvous. The menu consists of traditional Thai favorites such as tom kha gai (chicken-ginger-coconut soup), pra ram (steamed spinach, broccoli and carrots with peanut sauce) and pad thai (a mellow noodle dish great for those new to the cuisine). We especially like Lotus' version of panang curry with crispy fried tofu, and kang mussaman (potato-peanut-onion curry). |
