Lou's Food Bar Restaurant Review:

This lively neighborhood gathering place in Sunnyside is chef-restaurateur Frank Bonanno's homage to upscale comfort food, particularly crisp-fried chicken, served in traditional fashion or Nashville-style, the latter of which is jolted with a cayenne pepper-studded crust that's all about the heat. If your lips can withstand the punishment, don't forego it, especially since Lou's is the only Denver restaurant that serves it. Other standouts: the French-laced Lyonnaise salad with duck confit, pickled onions, red potatoes and a yolky fried egg; the corned beef Reuben; and Lou's grill-marked pork chop matched with a hoe cake, green beans and a blot of apple butter. Wrap up dinner with bread pudding or the cookie bar layered with caramel, whipped peanut butter and chocolate ganache. The interior features a bold color scheme, rustic accents and a large bar that pours strong cocktails, nearly 20 craft beers and a handful of reasonably priced wines.
