Lucia's Bakery & Take Home Restaurant Review: This French-style bakery and take-out shop is situated adjacent to chef Lucia Watson's restaurant and wine bar. Offering the same stylish flair, inviting vibe and good food, this cozy cocoon of a shop is one we love stopping in anytime: mornings for the house-made granola with yogurt (and a hit of espresso); lunchtime for St. André cheese and arugula on a baguette (with a glass of wine). Afternoons, we choose the bouchons (intensely chocolate French corks) or cupcakes---they're worth a visit alone. In the evenings, pop in to pick up a homey meatloaf with lemon aïoli. The shop also offers breads and jars of homemade blood orange marmalade as well as fresh salads and soul-inspiring soups. On the sideboard there's a basket filled with tiny (complimentary) hand-wrapped parcels of local Hope butter for morning muffins. |
