THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Lulu Cafe & Wine Bar Restaurant Review:
Housed in what used to be the citys premier nightspot (the formidable 80s club, 288), Lulu makes great use of a three-story brownstone on Albanys cool street. The ground floor features a small bar, which serves up fancy coffees, wine and beer. There are tables located in the sunny space upstairs, which has a large window overlooking the street scene. Food has a Mediterranean flair; the pastas and focaccia sandwiches are always a good bet. The very decent wine selection is surprising for such a small and informal place (you can even try a flight of wines here), but then again, Lulu is owned and operated by the same folks who run Justins, our other Lark Street favorite. Dont forget to check out the third-floor gallery space, which showcases work by some of the regions funkier artists. The terrace in back is a swell place to have lunch on a nice day.
