Maison Villatte Restaurant Review: Maison Villatte is a chef-owned bakery styled after a classic French boulangerie. It’s a jewel box of a storefront, lined with pastry cases filled layer after layer with desserts and savories. Standouts include the chocolate almond croissant, fruit tart and cream puffs. There are a variety of cold sandwiches as well as a traditional croque monsieur, all made with fresh baked loaves. The addictive breads are also sold by the loaf; we can't resist the olive version but like the crisp crust of the traditional baguette, too. The bakery sells elegant whole cakes apropos for serving at your next dinner party. Come prepared to stand for a few minutes in line as the place is very popular and service can be slow, although the staff is knowledgeable and helpful.
