Malabar Restaurant Review

: Warm red accents and high ceilings give uptown’s Malabar a chic yet cozy feel. At the far end of the white marble bar sits a red vintage hand-cranked slicer used for the many charcuterie offerings, including Ibérico ham. Sharing and sampling is the name of the game here. Choose several items from a robust list of meat, vegetarian and seafood tapas. Popular picks include paprika-and-lemon-marinated grilled lamb chops, braised beef empanadas served with green peas, sautéed champiñones, mussels in a spicy tomato sauce and grilled octopus. The four paella options require an approximate 35-minute wait, so plan ahead. An all-Spanish wine list with red and white sangrías supports the food, and many are poured by the glass. Fans of sherry that's properly served will want to note the availability of the iconic Spanish wine.
