Mama Dip's Restaurant Review: Local legend Mildred Council (aka Mama Dip) is still supervising the kitchen of her beloved diner established in 1976 on Rosemary Street. Her restaurant puts some "South in your mouth" with an unchanging menu of traditional Southern staples such as chicken fried steak, chitterlings, Brunswick stew, fried chicken livers, and fried pork chops heaped with black-eyed peas, yellow squash casserole, and stewed collards. The fried chicken sets a crunchy-crusted standard that's hard to beat. Don’t fill up to the point where you don't have room for some pecan pie or banana pudding. Mama Dip’s three cookbooks are available at the diner, as well as her own brand of cornbread mix and jarred sauces and preserves.
