When the late Nick Manero opened his now legendary steakhouse in 1945, his motto was always bring the children. Today, over a half-century later, the restaurant, now under the aegis of Nick, Jr., has grown from a mere 50 seats to over 600. And those children, many who came to celebrate their birthdays and be serenaded by Manero's famous singing waiters, continue to come back, often with both their children and grandchildren. Manero's is nothing short of a regional institution. It's as well known for its aged steaks, lobster tail surf 'n' turf combinations and scampi as it is for its famed Gorgonzola cheese salads, smothered in fried onion rings, steamy garlic bread and custom-blended steak sauce. The quintessential steakhouse, with catchy sayings on the walls, barebones tables and little elbow room, it's not fancy and doesn't pretend to be. Nor is it a place for the weak of heart or those sensitive to noise. Instead it's the perfect solution for satisfying that craving to once again simply indulge in a superb piece of meat, whether it's steak, prime rib or lamb chops.
