THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Manhattan Wonton Company Restaurant Review:

Vibrant rose walls with mahogany accents, this is not your neighborhood Chinese joint. Although owner Paul Heller (nephew of Joseph---as in Catch-22) likes to call his style of cuisine New York Chinese, we think the menu reads more California than Big Apple with its emphasis on fresh, native produce and light preparations. Be sure to start with the edamame won tons, steamed dumplings filled with seasoned soy beans. Another crowd-pleasing starter is the restaurant's version of lettuce-wrapped chicken. Fish dishes offer a far more creative selection than the norm. We like the swordfish in spicy brown sauce seasoned with basil. Noodle and tofu dishes are also a house specialty. The sort of place perfect for a gathering of the clan, the family-style servings will also make a nice change of pace for a romantic rendezvous. It is, incidentally, the only Chinese restaurant we can think of in Los Angeles to understand the delicate art of mood lighting.
