One of Belltown’s first hip eateries, this spot feels a bit dated compared to the neighborhood’s newer, chic urban bistros. But it still has charm and an interesting menu. Whether you dine in the secret garden, at tables on the sidewalk, or in the romantically lit dining room, Marco’s spot offers a special experience. The brief international menu changes often, although you can---and should---try the signature fried sage leaves. Follow with the Penn Cove mussels and Manila clams, or perhaps the beef and pork tenderloin satays with a piquant spicy peanut sauce. Noteworthy main courses include smoked pork loin in a bourbon sauce with spoon bread, bacon-wrapped beef tenderloin with a flavorful Black Butte porter demi-glace, and butternut squash ravioli paired with roasted radicchio and lemon-sage butter. On the dessert menu, don't miss the white chocolate bread pudding baptized with caramel sauce.
