Margaritas Restaurant Review: Even if the food wasn’t tasty, Margaritas would be worth the visit to enjoy its patio setting on a tree lined avenue in the inner city. The street is not about posh so the eatery, with its plastic tables and chairs on a painted concrete deck, fits right in. Inside, décor is slightly better with wood booths and benches draped with colorful Mexican fabric. Chef Raul Corona from Mexico City cooks up cuisine from his home country that can satisfy both North American and Latino tastes. Chunky, fresh guacamole is served in a volcanic rock bowl with house-made tortilla chips and salsa. Camarones nopalitos, shrimp sautéed in tomatillo sauce, come accompanied by sliced Mexican cactus. Calamares picantes features tender squid lightly cooked in a spicy tomato sauce. Ten dollars will get you a hearty serving of burrito, chimichanga or enchilada. More fanciful dishes include mole chicken and chile relleno.
