| Escape to the third floor to find this lovely and inviting eatery to quench a thirst and to find a respite from shopping center bustle. The crowd is made up of predominately local residents and includes a regular gathering of ladies who lunch, socialites who high-tea, and marathon shoppers run ragged in need of sustenance. All dine graciously and unhurriedly in a delightfully airy setting of neutral colors and tropical accents with huge panoramic windows that embrace the sweeping views of Ala Moana Park, Ala Wai Marina and the blue Pacific Ocean beyond. Special touches are appreciated here like a small bowl of chicken consommé to start which sets the tone and cleanses the palate, and the large, delicate popovers accompanied by a hard to come by poha butter. Chef Mark Freiberg adds many fresh touches to the menu like lamb chops with eggplant couscous while retaining favorites such as the seafood curry, applewood salmon salad and butterscotch-macadamia nut pie. |
