| Resurrected in Chelsea after a long run in the Meatpacking District, seafood is still the main attraction at this Belgian spot. Markt's menu extends from brunch-y homemade waffles overflowing with fresh whipped cream and fruit to Belgium’s national dish---mussels. Those luscious shellfish come prepared in cream and garlic sauce or white wine or even steamed in Hoegaarden beer. From the meat menu, there’s traditional beef stew prepared with Leffe brown beer. Belgian chocolate lends a new level of lush to sinful specialties like mousse and tarts for dessert. As you’d expect, the raw bar is of a high quality, particular the fresh East and West Coast oysters and plâteau de fruits de mer. Don’t worry, the epically long bar (and fine selection of Belgian brews, all in the proper glasses) came along for the ride and remain from the original location, though the hard wooden stools that also came aren’t the comfiest seats. |
