This long, narrow room (an incarnation of the former Café Japengo) with colorful Moroccan hanging lamps and a view of the lake serves sushi, sashimi and more. The menu says the name means “of the sea,” but that’s only a partial description of what awaits diners here. Yes, there are sushi and sashimi, but also a 16-ounce bone-in Prime rib-eye and other meaty options such as Colorado lamb served au jus and with Yukon Gold potatoes. Coriander pesto enlivens tender Kobe beef satay, just as a splash of Thai spice and red chili-pepper dressing perk up a soft shell crab. Separate sushi and sashimi menus offer a range from toro and hamachi to hirame and unagi to a whole dinner, omakase-style. Chocolate undagis---Japanese donuts served with crème anglaise---and coconut-crusted blueberry-filled cheesecake are among sweet temptations. Marssa offers about a dozen sakés, including an unfiltered bottle, with a flight available showcasing four different styles. Be sure to show up before sunset to take advantage of the view as there’s nothing to see outside after dark. |
