Masona Grill Restaurant Review: Masona Grill is a cute, cozy, easy-going reflection on its cute, cozy, easy-going neighborhood, West Roxbury---until you open the menu. Then its horizons expand. Latin flavors dominate, but not to the exclusion of others, particularly Euro-Mediterranean; more importantly, their fusion is generally deft. It never occurred to us that jicama’s crunchy sweetness might stand up to smoked salmon, but so it does in a salad with hearts of palm. Bright olives and oranges on the one hand, and earthy mushrooms and spinach on the other, make an unexpectedly vivid backdrop for seared scallops. And the blueberry-brown butter tart blends the savor of summer with cold-weather comfort. |
