Mastro's Steakhouse Restaurant Review: The arrival of Mastro’s Steakhouse, located on tony El Paseo in Palm Desert, has helped to elevate the Valley’s dining standards. Prime hand-cut steaks are seasoned with a dry rub and served on sizzling 400-degree plates. The bone-in filet, with a choice of a 12- or 18-ounce cut, is a fine example of what this place does best. A double-cut porterhouse, meanwhile, weighs in at 48 ounces and can easily be shared by three, if not four, people. Side the beef with mashed potatoes, served family-style, their creamy, buttery texture offset with chunks of lobster. Plenty of appetizers, salads, soups and seafood are available, too. Among desserts, we suggests the warm butter cake. In addition to handcrafted cocktails, the wine list includes some 500 labels and more than 50 varietals offered by the glass. Mastro’s offers multiple dining rooms and a signature bar with everything on the menu offered à la carte.
