| Located in a red-brick building with high ceilings, exposed metal beams and antique light fixtures, this spot has an adult edge and a sophisticated ambience missing at most family-friendly Mexican eateries. The dark bar area is a welcoming place for an after-work drink (the tequila selection is tops). Try a bowl of chunky chili or be adventurous and order bacon-wrapped jalapeños stuffed with goat cheese. Although the menu offers mahi mahi or habanero prawns, we usually head straight for the meat. The carne asada is first-rate, moist, and paired with sautéed corn and leeks, as well as garlic mashers. We also suggest the carnitas, a dish of pork chunks served in a sauce hinting of cinnamon and orange, and the baby-back ribs. Desserts include a molten chocolate cake paired with vanilla bean ice cream and a rum-caramel sauce. |
