THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Matador Tapas Bar & Latin Steakhouse Restaurant Review:

A prime spot on Lower State Street lures crowds to this tapas bar and Latin American steakhouse. It all looks rather nice: candles illuminate dark woods and the room’s deep colors create an elegant atmosphere. The food, however, is slightly less attractive than the ambience. Chimichurri sauce tends to overwhelm flavors in many of the tapas---typical North Americanized versions of small plates rather than traditional Spanish tapas. New-world steakhouse entrées hit a higher mark, particularly the dripping-with-flavor Brazilian churrasco. With people-watchers perched on the mezzanine sipping sangrías and menu items made to share, the social experience is perhaps Matador’s finest offering.
