THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Max's Beach Place Restaurant Review:
Max’s Beach Place boasts the usual Dennis Max repertoire with a more elegant slant than his other properties. This dignified but trendy restaurant decorated with muted earth tones overlooks the beach, a view we savor while enjoying what we’ve come to think of as Max food. That translates to boldly flavored salads, pastas and grills, which can be playful if not a touch cute, too contrived to be clever. Spiced tuna filet mignon is unspectacular. The more comforting dishes range from juicy thyme-grilled chicken to tenderloin of beef served atop a bed of horseradish-mashed potatoes. Mesquite-grilled pork chops are smoky goodness. A modest list of wines leaves out the undesirables.
