| Bostonians were abuzz when the West Coast's premier seafood chain, McCormick & Schmick's, invaded the kingdom of Legal Sea Foods; but it soon became clear this town is big enough for both of them. This branch docked in Park Plaza, drawing a steady stream of business folk and tourists while conveying a sense of careful polish that helps dispel the corporate aura somewhat. Gleaming hardwoods, crisp white tablecloths, waitstaff delivering dishes with pomp---the formulaic steakhouse routine suits it, as does a menu printed daily to accommodate the catch of the day. Granted, neither chain outshines the best of its independent counterparts, but both churn out premium vanilla. |
