| Although McCormick's has the look of a classic Pacific Northwest seafood establishment, it's actually part of a nationwide chain based in Portland. Of the four outlets in Seattle, this handsome downtown McCormick's is the most elegant with a rich mahogany wood interior, gleaming brass fixtures, and stained glass. Heading the menu is an extensive daily list of the fresh fish and shellfish prepared with a contemporary twist. House specialties include oysters and clams breaded and pan-fried, ready for dipping into tangy tartar sauce; petrale sole lightly cloaked in grated Parmesan cheese with a lively sauce of butter, lemon and capers; and crisp-edged crab cakes paired with chili-lime marmalade. For the fish-phobic there are plenty of meat and poultry alternatives---the filet mignon is a standout. The wine list is a mostly domestic affair, and several choices are available by the glass. Also on tap is a terrific selection of local microbrews. Desserts are homey; we suggest the chocolate sundaes, berry cobbler and Key lime pie. |
