Melograno Restaurant Review: Chef-owner Gianluca Demontis' kitchen turns out pristine platters of roasted artichokes and sea scallops with lemon sauce, a wild boar Bolognese over homemade pappardelle, and grilled fish, such as swordfish caponatina di melanzane, rich with the flavors of summer. Or just indulge in the appetizers --- all of them --- including grilled squid with haricots verts eggplant marmalade and a mushroom bread pudding brimming with fungi goodness. Service has disappointed on a few visits: perfunctory at best, oblivious at worst. Add in the ear-splitting volume level and Melograno has a few issues. Still, chef Demontis remains inspired. |
