THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Melrose Restaurant Review:
Melrose is at its prettiest during the day, when its corner location admits light from two sides and its pleasant plant-filled patio offers outdoor dining beside a refreshing fountain. The Sunday brunch is one of the best in town. It begins with an appetizer buffet, complete with a lavish selection of fresh shellfish, and the main course is served at the table. At other times, customers celebrate executive chef Brian McBride's upscale dishes, which may turn up as an appetizer of crab meat-stuffed prawns or an entrée of pumpkin ravioli with truffled sunchoke purée. The crab cakes, available at brunch and dinner, are model versions of this regional dish. And you can count on the rack of lamb to be near perfection. The homey desserts might include a warm chocolate bread pudding or a fruit crisp. Melrose is close to the Kennedy Center, so it's a good choice for pre-theater dining.
