BG Restaurant Restaurant Review:

Real ladies who lunch consider a number of factors before choosing a place for their favorite meal. They like their dining room tables spacious --- the better to accommodate overstuffed handbags --- and, with precious furs to entrust, their restaurant staffs should be attentive to a fault. BG, the restaurant on the seventh floor of Bergdorf Goodman, covers these bases and more. A quiet aerie overlooking Central Park, the place is awash in muted yellows and greens befitting a Park Avenue six. The menu plays it equally safe. Appetizers include various chef’s salad riffs, with crisp, gently-cooked vegetables in wafer thin sheets. Entrées, mostly upscale comfort food, include pan-roasted chicken with tarragon sauce and sliced duck breast with haricots verts. For the more extravagant shopper there’s a fine lobster napoleon with chanterelles, all the better for savoring with a Sancerre rosé or Tuscan Vermentino by the glass. BG's tea service includes tea sandwiches and freshly baked scones, accompanied by a glass of Veuve Clicquot, and there's a classic Tahitian vanilla crème brûlée for dessert. You won’t find many surprises --- unpleasant or otherwise --- just classics well done. Think of BG as the Martha Stewart of in-store dining: classy, conservative and unflappable.
