Cafe du Monde Restaurant Review:

Since the mid-19th century, the premier destination for an authentic cup of strong New Orleans coffee and chicory has been Café du Monde. Just a stone’s throw from Jackson Square, the covered outdoor retreat serves steaming mugs of café au lait and irresistible beignets (New Orleans’ version of donuts, doused in powdered sugar). The ideal time for stopping by is just before dawn, when seats are easy to come by and the French Quarter's frantic pace subsides. But it's also a good spot for ending a night on the town in the wee hours. There is always music playing from somewhere nearby, mixed in with the sounds of steamboats roaring up the adjacent Mississippi River, lying just over the levee.
