Camaron Pelado Seafood Grill Restaurant Review:

The Westside location of Camaron Pelado has pulled ahead of the Pleasanton Road original for its less blindingly fluorescent atmosphere and its first-rate ceviches. The coastal-classic ceviche de pulpo is more ketchup-based than the versions we think we know, but it's true to form, and the octopus is more tender than might be imagined. For something a little more familiar, the camarones aguachile present the namesake crustacean in a tart green (or zingy red) sauce. Also recommended is the coastal favorite taco del gobernador; it comes in three varieties, of which the marlin is the one to set your hook in. Whole fish and fish filets are another compelling option; for those willing to imagine a truly baroque preparation with mustard, soy and slugs of hot sauce, the “sarandiado” (sometimes also listed as “zarandeado”) transforms tilapia into a fish worth landing. We would avoid the less flamboyant than usual rendition of an interior Mexican classic, the mancha manteles, with chicken breast in a version of mole sauce. A coastal Mexican beer such as Pacifico will go with everything that swims or otherwise smacks of the sea.
