Give this place credit, for despite its longevity on Capitol Hill, it still draws a chattering lunch crowd, who head here despite the local restaurant competition. But there are good reasons that La Loma continues as a to-go place for Hill types: it’s colorful, the food is flavorful, and the price is right. Choices are fairly broad, ranging from fajitas to such old standbys as chimichangas, burritos, taco platters and typical seafood dishes, even something called salmon and jumbo shrimp seasoned with Mexican butter. While this is not cutting-edge Mexican or even flavorful Tex-Mex, La Loma’s food is tame and safe enough for granny, all the kids, and the lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
