Located on bustling West Houston Street, this restaurant transports its guests thousands of miles south to the islands. A Jamaican diner with a pan-Caribbean menu, Miss Lily’s is a good destination for island fare, but the late-night crowd is more in search of a party that pleasing their palate. Regardless, we think you should come for the food. The menu, naturally, is seafood heavy; hits include cod fritters with a curry dipping sauce, slightly spicy pepper shrimp, and an avocado-laced smoked mackerel salad. For the turf lover, the hearty oxtail stew and goat curry are deeply satisfying and quite filling, especially when washed down with a bottle of Red Stripe.
