The Publick House Restaurant Review:

Decking the walls amid candlelit Gothic furnishings and fixtures scavenged from old New England churches, European breweriana promises beer buffs they've come to the right place. The taps lining the bar live up to the promise, with local microbrews, Belgian kriekenbiers and other craft products from local breweries like Trillium Brewing Co.'s Fort Point Pale Ale. Beers are poured into the proper glassware by bartenders as knowledgeable and hops-happy as their patrons. The by-the-bottle selection, dozens and dozens strong including Belgians, saisons, lambics, pilsners and double IPAs, actually exceeds said promise --- The Publick House isn't merely the right place, it's paradise to local seekers of trappist ales, doppelbocks and imperial stouts. You can eat your beer as well as drink it, thanks to a kitchen that specializes in Belgian-style cuisine a la bière. On tap, so to speak, are Belgian Monk's frites served with creamy beer mustard, cider-glazed statler chicken, and Belgian meatballs made with Duvel gravy. Of course, there's a price to be paid for such pubby pleasure, and it's not monetary --- even the most avid acolytes moan about the long waits for tables. Since there are no desserts served here, we recommend a pour of the Berkshire Coffeehouse Porter to finish things off right.
