Sharaku Restaurant Review:
Wedged into untrammeled Stuyvesant Street, perhaps the only street in the East Village that doesn’t adhere to the grid system, this Japanese spot is friendly to the wallet and gratifying enough on the taste bud. The usual sushi suspects are present---the California and spicy salmon rolls, etc.---as are a few house rolls. But Sharaku does a steady business in non-sushi fare as well. The toro tuna steak, doused in a tangy ginger-sesame sauce, is filling and satisfying, as is its salmon counterpart (soaking in a V.S.O.P. sauce). Other standouts include cold soba noodles with shrimp tempura and one of the variations on the theme of donburi (raw fish over a bowl of rice).
