Right at the entrance of a charming Garden District mini-mall, Still Perkin' is a sunny coffeehouse with a youthful staff of talented baristas who brew coffees using beans from Coffee Roasters of New Orleans. Other treats include the frozen lemonade granita that so well tempers Louisiana summer heat, while a bowl of hot chocolate on raw winter days warms the spirit. The selection of down-home pastries ranges from cookies to breakfast breads and rich chocolate butter cream squares. The mansions of the area and the historic Lafayette #1 Cemetery are just outside, inviting constant walking tours, while the Garden District Book Shop, a favorite of local authors, is just across the hall.
