![]() Meritage Restaurant Review: Meritage is a paean to the alchemy of food and wine. Of course, the Boston Harbor Hotel's signature restaurant is also a testament to the equally keen ambition and talent of chef Daniel Bruce. Proffered in an arty and sophisticated---if somewhat aloof---space overlooking Rowes Wharf, Bruce's menu lists its dishes, available in half or full portions, according to the type of wine they complement in order to facilitate sampling and pairing. For instance, if you're partial to sparkling whites, you'd do well to try the epitome of elegance that is oyster-prosecco “stew” with slivered lemon toast; if you prefer spicy reds, a dish like the peppered, seared yellowfin in a buttery Zinfandel sauce will suit your sip to a T. We recommend an all-day fast---financial as well as alimentary---so you can mix-and-match to your tummy's content, right through to the dessert samplers built around red fruits, white fruits, citrus or nuts. Otherwise, better belly up to the bar for snacks like fried scallops with caper aïoli. |
