 THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Meson 923 Restaurant Review: Meson 923 is housed in a two-story architectural showpiece with an open kitchen that on one hand is very New Orleans in feel, but it’s also reminiscent of cool cafés with tall glass windows in SoHo. Chef Farrell Harrison’s menu proposes some interesting twists on classic New Orleans cooking, yet respect is shown for local sensibilities with the use of appropriate seasonings. A simple brandy-infused duck breast is covered in locally grown peaches, while the striped bass is served in natural juices and draped with crawfish. The wine list offers enough selections to complement the entrées. Desserts are as whimsical as traditional s’mores and as irresistible as bananas Foster with beignets. Patrons seated at a table on the first floor can observe the action in the glass-enclosed kitchen; on the second floor, distressed brick walls lend a warehouse feel. |
