Metropolitan Grill Restaurant Review: Prime, dry-aged, corn-fed beef grilled over Mexican mesquite charcoal stars at this financial district steakhouse. Prime rib, chicken Marsala and Dungeness crab fettuccine are also available, but most locals know better. Appetizers are largely superfluous, although we do like the smoked sirloin carpaccio, even if steak preceded by steak might seem over the top. Salads, sandwiches, a couple of burgers and chef’s specials vary on the lunch menu. If you must order something other than meat, the grilled catch-of-the-day is usually reliable. The wine list is long on reds focusing on West Coast varietals, and hard on the wallet. For a sweet finale, consider a chocolate martini. Service is polished and professional. |
