Mexicali Blues Restaurant Review: Mexicali is an after-work drop-in place that's easy on the budget. Crowds seem to love the zany bright décor as much as the restaurant's Mexican-Salvadoran cooking. You'll recognize the enchiladas, nachos and tacos as Mexican, but there are also Salvadoran specialties like fried yuca and pupusas. We'd return often for the bulging burrito, stuffed with grilled pork, chicken or beef plus beans and rice. The sopes (thick tortillas) with their choice of toppings are dreamy. Best bet: If you like fried potatoes, you'll love the gutsy-textured fried yuca.
