Glossy ’80s lacquer and neon dress up the oversized Coconut Grove Mezzanotte, a relative to the Grove’s premier supper club. Similar to other Mezzanotte locations, this one has good, affordable southern Italian antipasti, robust pasta and many veal and seafood dishes. Clams and calamari sautéed with tomato and peas are a favorite starter. Mouthwatering veal scaloppine with porcini is a rich and filling specialty. Mezzanotte is one of Coconut Grove’s pulsing hot spots, where flashy night owls salsa, merengue and flamenco (patrons jump up between courses) into the wee hours on weekends.
