Classy and simple in an Audrey Hepburn type of way, Mi Piaci is visually captivating. Glance through the window on the way in and you’ll see the chefs hard at work making pasta. Next, you’ll pass a bar displaying platters of antipasti---jewel tones of grilled vegetables, glistening home-cured olives, composed salads and more. If you're lucky, you might be seated at a window table overlooking the softly lit pond and herb garden. Soft, plump breadsticks whet the appetite, as does a simple order of melon wrapped in prosciutto di Parma. When it comes to entrées, you can choose from house-made or imported pastas, some of which are eggless. Our favorite from the former category is the pungent ravioli with mushrooms, and of the eggless pasta dishes, we like the penne in a spicy tomato-basil garlic sauce. Zuppa aragosta is an Adriatic-style lobster bisque topped with a homemade lobster fritter. Risotto also gets high marks, as does the grilled Dover sole and the fork-tender osso buco. Make sure you check out the notable wine list, as well as the cozy wine cellar, just a spiral staircase descent from the main dining room. |
