Michael Jordan pulled out all the stops at this local “comeback” on the restaurant scene. Swathed in Chicago Bulls-worthy red that evokes the legendary team, the restaurant ups the ante with modern lines and lighting, tucked nicely into the ornate, historic InterContinental Chicago. Upon arrival, a lounge-y bar sits to the left of the entrance, while the dining room resides up a dramatic staircase and across a narrow, lighted catwalk. Cozy leather booths, raised ever so slightly for room-scanning opportunities, give way to seating that overlooks the marble entryway. Most starters are steakhouse requisites---oysters on the half shell, a spendy seafood tower---augmented by signature items, like a rich stack of garlic bread that’s finished with rich, oozy blue cheese fondue. All pair well with strong, dry martinis, plus a host of other handcrafted cocktails. Then, there are the steaks, among them a dry-aged, bone-in filet that's crusty on the outside and tender within. We also like the unique prime rib presentation, its extra-long rib bone left intact for the carnivorous. Non-red meat-seekers can revel in the fact that fresh seafood and even chicken---fried in blue corn chips and topped with fried eggs and maple-glazed bacon---aren't afterthoughts. Come dessert time, don’t miss the 23-layer chocolate cake, a behemoth treat.
