Dining room at THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Michel Richard, Los Angeles, CAThe peripatetic chef who now cooks for the political elite in our nation’s capital hasn't owned this place in years. But in his spirit, the refined French breads and pastries he introduced to L.A. decades ago are still baked fresh daily here. The crowd includes French ex-pats, industry-types and others who crave an authentic croissant and cup of café au lait while perusing Daily Variety. There are several types of quiches, salads and omelets, as well as luscious pâtés. For dinner, you’ll find good pastas and simple bistro dishes like chicken with mushroom sauce in puff pastry, grilled salmon, steak frites, and a daily rendition of duck. Like all good cafés, this sentimental favorite---whose interior exhibits the work of local artists---has a wonderful patio on which to linger.
